DAREDEVIL was created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett, and first appeared in DAREDEVIL #1 (1964). The son of boxer 'Battlin' Jack' Murdock, Matt Murdock grew up in the relative poverty of Hell's Kitchen with much reverence for his father, who constantly pressed him to study instead of playing with his friends. In turn, they taunted him with the nickname DAREDEVIL since he always went back to studying and secretly training in his father's gym instead of doing things with them.

Matt was blinded by toxic chemicals, but learned to hone his physical skills and other senses to the point where he was a fearsome force for good in his neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, even after opening a law firm there.

Here in issue #8, you get "The Stiltman Coeth!", wherein Matt Murdock is hired by a disgruntled scientist who claims his boss stole his invention. The scientist turns out, not only to be the real thief, but also the new villain, STILT-MAN. DD unsuccessfully battles Stilt-Man, who manages to get away once again. But Matt soon discovers hydraulic lifts at the office of one of his clients, and know that he is Stilt-Man!

But it is just a ruse by ANOTHER client of Matt's, who winds up being shrunk out of sight by a reducing ray!

Karen, who's been looking into an eye operation for Matt, accuses him of cowardice and inability to fall in love when Matt tells her the operation's too risky.

This is a well-preserved copy of DAREDEVIL #8 with a strong binding and minimal toning of its 46-year old pages! There are very minor faults with the cover: a bent corner, 3 or 4 edge chips, along with a date stamp and a bit of spine roll. There is a bit of handwriting on the title page, and the letters page, and the Marvel coupon has been cut out. It still has good eye-appeal and that leads us to grading this a 4.0 VG. The Overstreet Guide feels $30 is appropriate -- we feel $21 plus our L•O•W shipping is even MORE appropriate! (OR . . you could spend $1820.00 on the only other DAREDEVIL #8 here on HipComic!)
