DC really stepped on the gas after acquiring the rights to publish a comic based on toymaker MATTEL's enormously popular HOT WHEELS die-cast car line. The company even hired ALEX TOTH to draw it, since the legendary artist had designed the characters for a HOT WHEELS Saturday morning cartoon show (which came under much criticism from the FCC and others for being a "half-hour toy commercial"!). TOTH's inaugural issue with writer Joe Gill chronicled turbo charged teen Jack Wheeler and his HOT WHEELS pit crew matching horse power against Dexter Carter and his Demons. The comic ran out of gas after only 6 issues, but TOTH's aerodynamic story telling fueled a series that took licensed tie-ins in a bold new direction!

In these 72 pages you get 4 high-octane race track and drag strip stories plus 4 'Racing Album' entries that profile famous race cars and their drivers.

Alex Toth provides his usual stylized virtuosity here, with additional art by Ric Estrada, Dick Giordano, and even Neal Adams! You'd never really know that this great action series was based on tiny die-cast vehicles!

This is a great-looking pair of 50-year old comics -- the bindings are strong, the colors are bright . . and the only fault we see is lifted and creased corner of the cover of #4. We'll conservatively grade these a joint 7.0 FN/VF . . . which Overstreet values at $50 . . . but we're pricing them at $30 . . with our always-L•O•W shipping!

Pedal to the metal . . before this bargain crosses the finish line into someone else's collection!
