DELL Comics was already a powerhouse in the comics industry when, in 1949, they began to publish GIANT comics with 100 pages of story, and cardstock covers with a square binding. Even at the increased cover price of 25¢ they were very profitable, and continued (with a gradually diminishing page count) until Fall of 1961, ending with Dell Giant #55.

Here is the 84-page issue #49 from October in that final year, with popular licensed characters from Walt Disney Studios appearing with DONALD DUCK's nephews, HUEY, DEWEY and LOUIE as they head back to school.  The three nephews debuted 14 years earlier in the DONALD DUCK daily comic strip, and had starred in over 15 Disney theatrical shorts by 1961.

The triplets appear in all 8 short stories herein and are joined by DAISY DUCK, LUDWIG VON DRAKE, UNCLE SCROOGE McDUCK, GYRO GEARLOOSE and others!

There are also 10 activity pages, none of which have been marked up.  This particular copy is the version of DELL GIANT #49 with ads on both the inside front cover, and on the back cover.

Great artwork by Disney artists, Jack Bradbury, Al Hubbard, and Tony Strobl, who provides the lion's share of the artwork here. 

This is a very nice copy of DELL GIANT #44 with its strong binding, glossy covers and supple pages. It has bright colors and no foxing! There are just a few minor stress lines, dimples and rough edges.  There is a small abrasion at the left lower front edge of the spine.

Overstreet values this issue, in this grade of 6.0 FN, at $27. We're willing to 'assign' this to you for a mere $20.
