It's amazing that a comic book fully devoted to the phenomonal art of cartoonist/writer/creator JACK DAVIS wouldn't be better known and lauded.  DAVIS' incredible career with EC Comics, MAD magazine, advertising art, magazine covers, film posters, record albums, trading cards are a testament to his prolific and prodigious output, as well as his popularity with cartoon afficiandos and the affection of general public!  But YAK YAK is little-known.

In 1961, DAVIS (after nearly a decade in the bull pen at MAD magazine) decided to create his OWN humor mag and arranged with DELL to publish and distribute it. The result was YAK YAK, of which two issues were released (FC 1186 in 1961, and FC 1438, in 1962)

This first issue of YAK YAK is a treasure chest of DAVIS' special brand of fun cartooning and appealing brushwork.  You get a TV parody, Nursery Rhyme satires, a Hysterical Historic Quiz, sight gags . . . and 36 pages of phenomenal art!

If you're a JACK DAVIS fan, your collection is not complete without this comic, even if you have every issue of MAD from the 35 years he contributed to it!  Fan or not, this comic is guaranteed to make you smile!

This is a really nice copy, with a strong binding, minimal toning, and no tears, abrasions  or rough edges. There is the tiniest of tears near the top of the front cover and a bit of roughness on the spine.  We grade it an 8.0 VF, which Overstreet values at $54 . . but we want you to enjoy YAK YAK as much as we have, so we say just $45!
