In the Fall of 1978 a new character emerged from the MARVEL offices, who would soon eclipse SPIDER-MAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA, CONAN and nearly all other superheroes in popularity - the disagreeably feisty and easy-to-anger Canadian, WOLVERINE!

MARVEL COMICS editor-in-chief ROY THOMAS had asked writer LEN WEIN to devise a character specifically named WOLVERINE, who was a Canadian of small stature and with a natural Wolverine's fierce temper. John Romita Sr.designed the first WOLVERINE costume.

He debuted as a secondary character in INCREDIBLE HULK #181 . . and nobody really thought he was going anywhere after that!

But WOLVERINE's popularity snowballed into a juggernaut, propelled by his membership in The X-MEN. It was inevitable that he would earn his own 4-issue miniseries . . . and HERE IT IS!

Chris Claremont and Frank Miller teamed-up to do a WOLVERINE story that removed him from the elements that made him popular, and into a world of ninjas, samurai, and debates about honor, but the elements of this mini-series helped define the character in ways that only added to his popularity.

The mini-series chronicles WOLVERINE's journey to Japan to express his feelings for MARIKO YASHIDA, but plunges him into danger, and ninja batlles with her extended crime family background. Barely surviving several sword fights, he is able to ask MARIKO to marry him in the finale.

Claremont expertly weaves equal parts of character drama and thrilling action, while Miller provides the exciting and appealing visuals!

These are four wonderfully fresh and pristine copies from this iconic era in X-MEN lore, with no faults or blemishes that we can see! A worthy 8.0 VF rating for these 42-year-old comics!
