Who's the first Rabbit Ronin that comes to mind? USAGI YOJIMBO, of course! Stan Sakai's inspired creation started as a one-off character tryout in the pages of ALBEDO ANTHROPOMORPHICS #2, published by Thoughts and Images in November 1984. Reader enthusiasm demanded more - and Fantagraphics publishers offered Sakai the chance to bring his fierce but compassionate rabbit under their aegis.

USAGI first appeared in several issues of the new anthropomorphic anthology series _Critters_. His increasing popularity influenced Fantagraphics to then release his early excploits here, in the USAGI YOJIMBO SUMMER SPECIAL, in October 1986.

In its hefty 48 pages, inside a dramatic wrap-around cover, you get USAGI's first two adventures from ALBEDO #2, 3 and 4, plus a brand new story, "The Confession".

There's even a full page 'pin up' by Sergio Aragonés featuring Sakai's CATNIPPON character battling a giant squid . . . and a very funny introduction written by Mark Evanier!
