Who's the first Rabbit Ronin that comes to mind? USAGI YOJIMBO, of course! Stan Sakai's inspired creation started as a one-off character tryout in the pages of ALBEDO ANTHROPOMORPHICS #2, published by Thoughts and Images in November 1984. Reader enthusiasm demanded more - and Fantagraphics publishers offered Sakai the chance to bring his fierce but compassionate rabbit under their aegis.

Stan Sakai's USAGI first appeared in several issues of the anthropomorphic anthology series CRITTERS. His increasing popularity influenced FANTAGRAPHICS to then release his early exploits in the USAGI YOJIMBO SUMMER SPECIAL, in October 1986. This was followed by giving the rabbit his own title 9 months later - and that's what we're offering here - in the more sought-after First Printing!

You get the two-part tale, "SAMURAI!", that tells of a young USAGI's first meeting with the Sensei Katsuichi, who teaches him the ways of the Ronin.

You also get the 8-pg story "TINKLEDROP" that introduces LT. WADDLEWALK, the brave platypus aviator, created by Dennis Fugitake, who also supplies the full-color back cover.
