TREASURE CHEST v3 #3 EXTREMELY RARE .1947. COLUMBUS - Vatican City-State VF- THE COVER OF THIS EXTREMELY RARE RELIGIOUS COMIC PRESENTS A SCENE OF CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS' ARRIVAL IN THE NEW WORLD. The great interior has superstar Chuck White in a tale of his own, plus Dr. Daniels, and also part three of Alice In Wonderland . Most important of all, though, are the religious features. These include a story about the two St. Theresas, and an activity page about making a model of The Santa Maria. The double-page centerfold is about "Vatican City-State." An altogether remarkable and extremely rare comic. This rarity, by the way, is presumably due in part to the fact that, although it was possible to subscribe to TC, most Treasure Chests were distributed only by Catholic nuns in Catholic grade schools. Likewise, this comic's rarity must also be attributable in significant part to the fact that it, like every other TC published from v1 #1 until v3 #19, has a pulp cover (the first "slick cover" was released with TC v3 #20). Furthermore, the young readers were ordered by the editor to rip out the centerfold and paste it onto cardboard (fortunately for posterity, this example of TC v3 #3 is completely intact). CONDITION: This is unquestionably one of the very best of the few surviving TC v3 #3s. It looks excellent, even though it is over sixty years old. We have counted all the pages, and it is complete. The activity page is untouched. Due primarily to a small printer's tear on the top left corner and some minor wear on the bottom right of the front cover and page one (see scan, the wear is almost invisible), we grade it VERY FINE-. It has very readable pages (cream edges to nice white page centers). It is completely unrestored. SCANS: Because this is an important comic book, we are providing large scans so that everyone can see for themselves just how nice it is. This is a great book! PLEASE NOTE that as we write this, C*C's census states that C*C has never graded ANY example of this Golden Age comic. Since C*C has been grading comics for over ten years, that is a striking indication of just how extraordinarily rare this comic truly is. 1947 Grade: VF- SKU: CHV-352
