Item Description
Condition: Condition is . Please see item description for more information.Treasure Chest Issue: 6 / Year: 1947 Condition: ONE OF THE EARLIEST SF COVERS EVER PUBLISHED ON A COMIC BEGINS THIS EXTRAORDINARILY RARE TC , which features an episode from Jules Verne's historic "Voyage To The Moon." Chuck White, naturally, stars in a story of his own, but arguably most important from an historic point of view is the very powerful story about St. Catherine Of Alexandria, whose public spread-eagle torture and subsequent execution make her tale extraordinary. In over forty years of avid collecting, we have found this to be one of the rarest of all comic books. This rarity, by the way, is presumably due in part to the fact that, although it was possible to subscribe to TC, most Treasure Chests were distributed only by Catholic nuns in Catholic grade schools. Likewise, this comic's rarity must also be attributable in significant part to the fact that it, like every other TC published from v1 #1 until v3 #19, has a pulp cover (the first "slick cover" was released with TC v3 #20). Additionally, TC v3 #6's extreme rarity must also be attributable in significant part to the afore-mentioned panel of St. Catherine in public spread-eagle torture, displayed before a crowd of thrill-seekers. CONDITION: This is unquestionably one of the very best of the few surviving TC v3 #6s. It looks spectacular, even though it is over sixty years old. We have counted all the pages, and it is complete. The activity page is untouched. Due primarily to a very tiny printer's tear on the top left corner and some barely visible wear on the bottom edge of the front cover (see scan, the wear is almost invisible), we grade it NEAR MINT-. It has very readable off-white to white pages, and a very neat small pencil name written within the title. It is completely unrestored. SCANS: Because this is an important comic book, we are providing large scans so that everyone can see for themselves just how nice it is. This is a great book! PLEASE NOTE that as we write this, C*C's census states that C*C has only graded one example of this Golden Age comic (a 6.0). Since C*C has been grading comics for over ten years, that is a striking indication of just how extraordinarily rare this comic truly is. Publisher: George A.
