There they encounter human cruelty and beastly dangers - like the gigantic Griffin - but are able to eventually bring Volstagg back to Asgard.

The whole story is bookended by two Egyptologists in modern times debating the truth of what the hieroglyphics on the Sphinx portray! A clever and exciting story -- well-researched by Davis, and beautifully drawn!
