Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's famous creation of THOR first took place in 43 issues of JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY before the God of Thunder got his own title in THOR #126. Here are the third and fifth issues of that long-running series, with 42 total pages of Jack Kirby and Vince Colletta energy and action!

In "The Power of Pluto!" in #128, while THOR convalesces in Asgard, HERCULES auditions anonymously for the role of Hercules at a Hollywood studio -- which unbeknownst to the 'Prince of Power' is really just a front set up by PLUTO and DIONYSUS to trick HERCULES and condemn him to Hades! THOR recovers and comes to Earth looking for a rematch with HERCULES, but they both wind up bonding to defeat PLUTO's hordes.

Then, in issue #130 you get "Thunder in the Netherworld!" which continues the tale of THOR's quest to stop the crowning of HERCULES as the King of Hades. Acting as HERCULES' champion, THOR manages to defeat PLUTO's evil hordes and accept HERCULES as an equal in conquering evil. There is also a subplot where Jane Foster succumbs to the nefarious ways of Tana Nile!

Each of these issues also carries a 'Tales of Asgard' feature by Kirby and Coletta, which ran for many issues of THOR as a back-up.

These are two nice and supple 57-year old comics, with normal toning but no foxing, and only minimal stress lines or edge wear. We conservatively grade them an aggregate 5.0 VG/FN. The Overstreet Guide feels $56 is appropriate for the pair - we feel $36 plus L•O•W $2 shipping is even MORE appropriate!
