Yep - this is for real! THE X-MEN #1 from the Fall of 1963 - Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's famous creation of the young recruits of a special school for mutants with special powers! Here is the introduction and first appearances of Professor Xavier, Angel, Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, Marvel Girl [Jean Grey] on her first day at the academy . . . and Magneto!

In the story titled, simply, "X-MEN", after a day of training and meeting Jean Grey, a new student at Professor X's school, the X-Men go on their first assignment -- stopping a mutant villain named Magneto from talking over an Air Force base.

Here's the comic that started a phenomenon!

This is a pretty nice copy for its 57-years age - the binding is strong but somewhat chipped and cracked, there are some tears (specifically a 3" tear in the back cover) and a few ragged edges, and the pages have normal toning, but no foxing. There is a one-word, neatly-written inscription at the top of the first page. Graded very carefully by the Overstreet criteria.
