In 1988, DC Comics decided to dip into their archives and re-present the entire 20-year history of one of BATMAN'S greatest adversaries - RA'S AL GHUL! These four 52-page issues 'resurrect' 8 of the greatest RA'S AL GHUL stories from issues of BATMAN and DETECTIVE in the early 1970s.

Created by editor Julius Schwartz, writer Dennis O'Neil and artist Neal Adams, RA'S AL GHUL (translated roughly from Arabic as "HEAD OF THE DEMON") first appeared in BATMAN #232's "Daughter of the Demon" (June 1971), brought back to life here in 'SAGA' #1. He is the son of Sensei; the father of Talia al Ghul, BATMAN'S greatest love, and the maternal grandfather of Damian Wayne, BATMAN's son. Stories featuring Raʼs al Ghul often involve the Lazarus Pits, which restore life to the dying. The Lazarus Pits have considerably prolonged Raʼs' life, making him deadly dangerous as he has honed his combat skills for over 5 centuries.

Each issue contains woman stories that involve BATMAN and RA'S, as well as a third story that is tangential to the two adversaries in some way. Eight of those stories feature the great artwork of Neal Adams.

There are also revisitations of some of Adams' covers, and pin-ups by José Luis Garcia-Lopez . . . plus each issue has wrap-around cover artwork!
