The character of ADAM WARLOCK was introduced in Marvel Premiere, an anthology series that in reality was a tryout book, intended to determine if a character or concept could attract enough readers to justify launching their own series.Roy Thomas and Gil Kane follow up that initial success in 'The Power of WARLOCK #1' , the first of an 8-issue run. Here, in "The Day of the Prophet!", WARLOCK is pulled into space by The HIGH EVOLUTIONARY who tells WARLOCK that he plans on destroying Counter-Earth. It's all very quasi-Biblical, with WARLOCK returning to Earth to try and redeem humanity with the help of a group of teens.
WARLOCK re-encounters the MAN-BEAST, his adversary from two issues of Marvel Premiere, with great art by Gil Kane!
This copy of WARLOCK #1 is in terrific shape, with glossy cover, a strong binding, only lightly toned pages, and no tears, splits, or pieces missing - EXCEPT FOR A DETACHED COVER! There are a few small bends & shallow creases, a bit of cover edge roughness, and an unobtrusive pre-printing paper fold on the title page, which was there when this copy was purchased. We're conservatively grading it an 4.0 FN due to the detached cover (otherwise, the book is in really nice shape!). . . which Overstreet values at $14. We're offering it for just $11.50 . . plus our L•O•W shipping!!
