After their first appearance in GREEN LANTERN #141 two years earlier, THE OMEGA MEN got their own comic series which ran for 38 issues from April 1983 to May 1986. During its run, writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen defined THE OMEGA MEN as hailing from the Vega system, a planetary system with twenty-five habitable planets, which had been subjugated to the cruel reign of the Citadel..

Here in issue #1 the team consists of manimal TIGORR, the wraith-like NIMBUS, leader PRIMUS, sorceress KALISTA, winged mutant HARPIS, her sister DEMONIA, and super strong behemoth BROOT.

In "Citadel War, Chapter One" THE OMEGA MEN liberate the planet Slagg from Citadel rule. Their next stop is BROOT's homeplanet Changralyn, where BROOT's aggressive actions cause the Citadel to nuke the city of Sharll, where THE OMEGA MEN are visiting.

You also get the one-page essay by Editor Roger Slifer, "The Omega Men: The Art of Creation, the Creation of Art", in which he discusses how he wants THE OMEGA MEN series to develop.
