THE NEW MUTANTS was a group of teenaged mutant superheroes-in-training. They debuted in the Spring of 1983 and were spin-offs of the X-MEN franchise, created by fan-favorite X-MEN writer Chris Claremont and artist Bob McLeod.

THE NEW MUTANTS_ _highlighted interpersonal and group conflict as well as action and adventure, and featured a large ensemble cast. The original team consisted of: CANNONBALL (Samuel Guthrie), KARMA (Xi'an Coy Manh), MIRAGE (Danielle Moonstar, originally codenamed Psyche), SUNSPOT (Roberto da Costa), and WOLFSBANE (Rahne Sinclair).

Here in the first two issues of their run, we are initially introduced to the team as they get acclimated to their new home, new talents, new friends, and new teachers, unaware that they are being watched by someone . . or someTHING!. Psyche is attacked in the Danger Room by an unknown assailant! And in Issue #2 THE SENTINELS attack the NEW MUTANTS, who learn that they are caught up in a web of intrigue involving the government. The Hellfire Club wants the NEW MUTANTS. Col. Rossi returns from the dead. Psyche's attack seems to have been initiated by Prof. X -- all hinting at lots of drama and excitement to come!

These two 38-year-old copies are in exceptionally nice condition - no stress lines, bent corners or toning - the covers still have their gloss and the pages are near-white with bright colors.
