In 1972 MARVEL COMICS was suddenly riding a successful tidal wave of interest in MONSTER and HORROR comics . . . TOMB of DRACULA, WEREWOLF BY NIGHT, GHOST RIDER and others were selling nearly as well as superheroes. The next stop on the Fright Express, naturally, was an adaptation of sorts of Mary Shelley's classic tale of regeneration - FRANKENSTEIN! The result was the 18-issue run of MONSTER OF FRANKENSTEIN, kicked off by the terrific writing and appealing illustrating of Gary Friedrich and Mike Ploog!

The first three issues - including the two offered here - were a fairly faithful flashback adaptation of Shelley's novel, with the action taking place after the MONSTER was freed from his Arctic prison of ice by the great grandson of the man he murdered there! In issue #3 the adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel continues, with Frankenstein's Monster taking his revenge on Victor Frankenstein by killing his wife Elizabeth, and later killing Victor also.

Issue #4 starts the story diversions from the novel, with "Death of the Monster!" , wherein the MONSTER relates the tale of how he came across a remote camp that was the home of a tribe of Neanderthals, who initially battle him, but ultimately accept him into their tribe. But the MONSTER soon falls off a cliff into the ice, and stays frozen for 100 years!

These are great 50 year old copies with no faults or blemishes that we can see! We'll conservatively call them a joint 8.0 VF. As such, Overstreet suggests a price for the pair of $46.00. But we're willing to part with them for just $30 . . with our always-L•O•W shipping!
