THE ETERNALS are a fictional race of humanoids who are described as an offshoot of the evolutionary process that created sentient life on Earth. The original instigators of this process, the alien Celestials, intended for the ETERNALS to be the defenders of Earth, which leads to the inevitability of war against their destructive counterparts, the DEVIANTS. They have now joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with their own feature film 'ETERNALS',  directed by Chloé Zhao, and starring a large cast featuring Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie.

Jack Kirby created the ETERNALS upon his return to Marvel after a stint at DC when his 'FOURTH WORLD' opus was cancelled. Many aspects of his ETERNALS backstory are tangential to concepts he originated at DC

In "The Night of the Demons!", in issue #4, written and illustrated by Kirby, Ikaris flies over Manhattan and begins fighting Kro's Deviant armies, but he is felled by a Brain-Mine and is taken captive.  Nearby, Sersi keeps an eye on Margo and tells her of her ancient exploits. A group of Deviants burst into the penthouse and attack, but Sersi uses her powers to divert their flame weapons and turns them into lizards.  Meanwhile, Kro loads Ikaris' unconscious body into a torpedo and launches him deep into the sea. From within the City of the Space Gods, Ajak monitors the Deviant attack on New York. He learns of Ikaris' defeat and retrieves the capsule containing his body. Afterwards, Doctor Damian and Ajak turn and watch the progress of Arishem the Judge and the Fourth Celestial Host at the Inca ruins.

In issue #5 Kirby presents "Olympia!", wherein Sersi uses her magic mirror to contact her fellow Eternal Makkari. She warns him of the Deviant attack on New York. Upon receiving the news, Makkari races through the streets of the Eternal city of Olympia until he gains an audience with the Prime Eternal, Zuras, who is enraged to discover that Earth has now been plunged into a cosmic war. He sends his daughter Thena along with Makkari to lend assistance.  Meanwhile, Sersi and Margo are kidnapped by a group of Deviant mutants who prepare to bring them back to their undersea kingdom of Lemuria. Kro's forces continue to raze the city, but a brave squad of police officers bar their path. From above, Makkari and Thena's sky-ship arcs downward unleashing a barrage of energy bursts upon the Deviants. Makkari brandishes an ice gun and freezes several of the winged mutates. Their bodies drop to the streets below.

These are really nice, terrific-looking and solid copies of THE ETERNALS #4 and #5, with strong bindings, glossy covers, supple pages and bright color. The pages have very little toning for being 45-year-old comics, and no foxing.  Theses issues - due to the new MARVEL film - have recently skyrocketed in price as dealers try to cash in, and consequently Overstreet prices are not really applicable . . .  but we think $30 is a  reasonable price for these two, regardless of the many sellers in the marketplace offering lesser quality copies of these issues with inflated price tags!!  The best you can do elsewhere on HipComic, for these two issues in this condition, is $100!!

And we haven't seen any of them offering FREE SHIPPING like we do!
