Morale is still a bit low for The AVENGERS, here in issue #51 from 1968 - their membership is down to just 3 members (WASP, HAWKEYE & GOLIATH) following the resignations of CAPTAIN AMERICA, QUICKSILVER and the SCARLET WITCH!

But that doesn't mean writer Roy Thomas couldn't come up with another exciting adventure for the depleted team!  In "In The Clutches Of . . The Collector!", he has the active trio seized by supervillain THE COLLECTOR and spirited up to his spaceship orbiting the Earth.  His goal is to eventually capture and cage all of the AVENGERS, past and present!

There the AVENGERS find THOR, to their dismay, acting as a willing accomplice to the evil alien! The collector imprisons the three AVENGERS and experiments on GOLIATH, eventually causing him to grow to a new record height of 25ft. tall!

The AVENGERS, eventually with the help of THOR - who finally comes to his senses - manage to escape the spaceship after THE COLLECTOR flees from their fury.

Returning to New York, the three remaining AVENGERS are contacted by CAPTAIN AMERICA, who is in Africa, fighting alongside BLACK PANTHER . . and recommends him for membership in the AVENGERS!

John Buscema gifts us once again with his exciting and powerful artwork! And Roy Thomas contributes a clever and rousing story!

This is a nice copy of this 54-year old comic, with a strong binding, supple pages, minimal toning and bright color.   We're very conservatively grading it a 7.0 FN/VF, for which Overstreet suggests a price of $39.  We're going to make this issue a bit more affordable for you at just $31 . . with our always-L•O•W shipping of only $2!
