Here's one of the biggest Marvel issues of 1988 - AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #300, by David Michelinie and fan-favorite artist Todd McFarlane - the 25th Anniversary issue of this venerable title, which rejuvenated interest in Peter Parker and his adventures as the Webslinger!

In "VENOM", Michelinie and McFarlane give us the first in-depth look at the alien 'symbiote' spider suit and the evil menace it embodies. The story starts with Mary Jane Watson badly shaken by a break-in at the small apartment she shares with her husband Peter Parker, by that same black-suited horror and its violent threatening of her. Peter calms her and they decide they can't live in that apartment any longer.

Meanwhile, we see that Spider-Man’s old alien costume has merged with reporter Eddie Brock who thinks his career was ruined by Spider-Man and the symbiote. He vows vengeance, and is out to end the life of Spider-Man throughout the rest of the story. As 'Venom', he and Peter eventually tangle in a 'no holds barred' fight that actually gets the better of Peter!

But all is well by the end (as might be expected) - Peter and his bride move into a new and much larger apartment, and Mary Jane, creeped out by the sight of Peter's 'black' costume, convinces him to revert to the old red and blue version!

You also get a special full page reminiscence by Stan Lee on 25 years with SPIDER-MAN!

52 pages of great art, chilling danger, domestic drama, and fantastic fisticuffs!

This copy is in pretty remarkable shape for being 34 years old, with a strong binding, supple pages (that are as bright as can be expected, on that low-grade 1980s newsprint) and no defects like toning, tears or ragged edges. We conservatively grade this key issuie a 9.0 VF/NM, which Overstreet values at $400. We just shake our head at the prices other dealers here on HipComic are charging ($1660??!! $840??!! $784??!! - and all for lesser-condition copies than ours), but we think you'll like our $395 price tag . . that includes FREE SHIPPING!
