When his uncle was killed by a burglar, Peter resolved to use his new powers to fight crime. Thus was born the Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel’s most popular character of all time.The Amazing Spider-Man is the flagship of the Spider-Man titles which have included Marvel Team-Up, Spectacular Spider-Man, Spidey Super Stories, Web of Spider-Man, and (just plain old) Spider-Man. Since its first issue in 1963, it has featured the wisecracking arachnid in many of his greatest adventures, and has introduced such famous super-villains as the Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, the Kingpin, and Venom.
