St. John Publications was an American publisher of magazines and comic books from 1947 to 1958. Thry butned brightly and hotly under the editorship of founder Archer St. John and established several industry firsts. Much of their success could be attributed to the work of outstanding artist MATT BAKER, whose artistry of glamorous and ethereally beautiful women graced the bulk of the firm's covers, as well as exciting stories of romance, betrayal, Western action, crime, and even a superhero story here and there! 

Here is issue #8 in the nine-issue run of TEEN-AGE TEMPTATIONS, the slightly titillating series that was one of the main contributors that got Dr. Frederic Wertham worked up into a lather in his crusade to censor comics that were "corrupting our nation's children"!!

This 36-page issue contains 4 stories that all showcase the amazingly appealing work of famed 'good girl artist' Matt Baker, the first Black comic artist 'superstar'!  This issue's cover art is taken from the lead story, "Fool's Paradise", wherein a beautiful orphaned teen is smuggled into the U.S. for purposes of blackmailing rich admirers.  But 'Sonya' falls in love with one of the targets, she steals the revealing photos, and elopes with the intended victim to Canada, where they marry!

Other stories include "Tell-Tale Love", in which a beautiful teen falls in love with a man 15 years her senior, tries to break him up from his fiancé, but learns the error of her ways; "Masquerade Marriage", that tells of two teens who fall for older men and are talked into marrying them, only to find out the marriages were a sham; and "The Price of Sinful Dates" an attractive (of course!) girl leaves her boyfriend for a bandleader who is secretly being sought by the Police, who takes her across state lines and is arrested as a felon!

This is a great-looking and clean copy of TEEN-AGE TEMPTATIONS #8, with all 36 pages bright and colorful and strongly bound.  No pieces missing or ragged edges - the cover even has a bit of gloss . . . but the cover also bears a few handwritten markings, the back cover has a tiny 1/4" tear at the bottom, and the comic appears to be cleanly restapled, lowering its value.  Nothing mars the beautiful interior art by Matt Baker, though, and we confidently grade this a 4.5 VG+.  

Overstreet assigns this issue in this condition a value of $438 . . . but we're offering it for $375, a price you won't find elsewhere . . and it comes with FREE SHIPPING! 

If you're a Matt Baker fan, or just a collector of Pre-Code Romance, you can't do better than this one!
