Here's the very first issue of TALES TO ASTONISH to adopt the format of starring roles for the SUB-MARINER (in his first real series after dozens of guest appearances) and the INCREDIBLE HULK! Jam-packed with exciting art from Gene Colan on SUB-MARINER and Jack Kirby on HULK!

In "The Start of the Quest" Namor returns to Atlantis to find that Warlord Krang has taken his throne. When he spurns the affections of Lady Dorma, she turns on him and he is arrested by Krang as a traitor. Realizing that the only thing that will allow him to regain his kingdom and his subjects is the Trident of Neptune, Namor escapes to go and recover it.

In "To Live Again!" Rick Jones drags his dead buddy Bruce Banner to their old underground complex where he uses the gamma machine on him, thus turning him into the Hulk and saving his life. The Hulk once again has the intellect of Banner but he has to continue to use the ray machine every 48 hours to keep himself from turning into his alter ego as he still has a bullet lodged in his head. 'The Leader' sends a giant Humanoid to attack gamma base and the Hulk gets involved in the fight.

This is a super-nice and supple copy of this 55-year old comic that holds a key position in Marvel chronology, with normal toning but no foxing, and stress lines, edge wear and a slightly banged-up spine. We feel confident in grading this a 4.0 VG for this issue. Overstreet feels $28 is appropriate - we feel $17 plus L•O•W shipping is even more appropriate!
