One of Hollywood's early DC Comics feature film adaptations was 1982's SWAMP THING movie.And DC - not knowing at the time that the film would be a success at the boxoffice - went to work on an official comic book adaptation of the movie in the Summer of that year.

Written and directed by Wes Craven, and centering on the shambling muck monster created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, the film tells the story of scientist Alec Holland (played by Ray Wise of Twin Peaks fame) who is transformed into the monster through laboratory sabotage orchestrated by the evil Anton Arcane (Louis Jourdan). Later, he helps a woman named Alice Cable (Adrienne Barbeau) and battles the man responsible for it all, the ruthless Arcane.

The film raised interest in the DC comic . . and the comic possibly led to SWAMP THING's long and successful ride as a home video!

This 52-page SWAMP THING ANNUAL #1 faithfully follows the screenplay by Director Wes Craven (the creative force behind the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' franchise, with script finessing by Bruce Jones, pencils by Mark Texeira and inks by Tony DeZuniga.

The cover reproduces the film's theatrical poster, painted by Richard Hescox.
