Here's a 1948 issue of every postwar schoolboy's favorite hero - SUPERMAN!

Inside the (weird) cover by Wayne Boring are three fun Golden Age tales of the Man of Steel. First is "Preview of Plunder!" wherein the Prankster places statues around town announcing his next crimes and all the statues show Superman helping him! Next up is "Superman Turns On The Heat!" , in which a small town farmer asks Superman for a favor which results in unforeseen consequences.

The third story is "Superman in Valhalla!" which tells of Superman going searching for a lost movie company and ending up seemingly in Valhalla, home of the Norse gods. He matches strengths with THOR, whose depiction here is a long way away from his later appearance in MARVEL comics!

Artists whose work appears in this issue are Win Mortimer, Ira Yarbrough, George Roussos and Henry Boltinoff. Sprinkled throughout are fun ads for Wheaties, Rice Krispies, RC Cola, Bazooka Bubblegum and others!

This copy has obviously seen better days in its 74 years, but nearly all the faults are confined to the front and back covers (ragged edges, scuffing, nicks, tiny tears, etc). The interior pages are clean, hardly any toning, free of foxing, and pretty colorful! We're conservatively grading this a 2.5 GD+ . . to which Overstreet assigns a price of $170!! Our price tag reads only $120 - which gets you this early issue at the best price on HipComic . . if, in fact, there was EVEN ANOTHER #52 ON THE SITE!!
