A 1950s-era scientific expedition to explore the possibility that Atlantis was in fact a thriving civilization, becomes an excellent, noirish, old timey take on Namor and the secrets he holds. Esad Ribic’s wonderfully moody water colors accentuate Peter Milligan’s words. Namor is rarely seen in full; the creators leave enough ambiguity to create doubt: is it a giant squid? an uncomprehendable unknowing? something even more terrifying? This tale is very dark, just like the bottom of the ocean.

The story is gripping and the art truly sublime with a watery quality all its own. It reads as more of a gothic horror story than the usual and overdone genre of superhero fisticuffs! A tale of the horrors of confinement with the unreasoning dread of the unknown, akin to 'ALIEN' or John Carpenter's 'THE THING'!
