PRINCE NAMOR, THE SUB-MARINER was actually the 'grand daddy' of the whole MARVEL Comics line, being the first SuperAnti-hero published in the 1940s by what would later become Marvel Comics! It wasn't until the late 1960s that he was able to earn his own title once more, after making several guest appearances in comics like DAREDEVIL, FANTASTIC FOUR and TALES TO ASTONISH.

Here is the milestone SUB-MARINER #50, featuring the return of NAMOR'S creator, Bill Everett, who takes the reins as both writer and artist! In the tale, "Who Am I ?", NAMOR rescues a young woman he perceives to have drowned, but she surprises him and flees. He follows her and ends up in the Antarctic where he's attacked by giant humanoid crustaceans. He meets SALAMAR THE SUSTAINER who tells him of his long-lost cousin, NAMORITA. NAMOR battles through the crustaceans and encounters his rival PRINCE BYYRAH who has captured NAMORITA. But the SUB-MARINER manages to free her and escape to the surface world with NAMORITA, whom he had not seen since she was an infant!

This is a great copy of SUB-MARINER #50. Even though there is an unobtrusive numerical handstamp on the back cover, it has nicely glossy covers, a strong binding, no creases, tears or pieces missing, and no toning of its 52-year old pages! We conservatively grade this copy an 8.0 VF.

The Overstreet Guide feels $89 is appropriate here (due to the introduction of NAMORITA, the future member of THE NEW WARRIORS and a Marvel superheroine in her own right) -- but we feel $50 plus our LOW shipping cost is even MORE appropriate!
