PRINCE NAMOR, THE SUB-MARINER was actually the 'grand daddy' of the whole MARVEL Comics line, being the first SuperAnti-hero published in the 1940s by what would later become Marvel Comics! It wasn't until the late 1960s that he was able to earn his own title once more, after making several guest appearances in comics like DAREDEVIL, FANTASTIC FOUR and TALES TO ASTONISH.

Here is SUB-MARINER #33, the issue kicking off Marvel's entry into the decade of the 70s. As told by Master Ret-Con Genius Roy Thomas and illustrated by Sal Buscema, you get "Come The Cataclysm!". In it, NAMOR returns to Atlantis after his visit to Lemuria and discovers that a cataclysm has struck Atlantis and its people have turned to the traitorous LORD BYRRAH to aid them. NAMOR challenges BYRRAH and is given just 24 hours to prove BYRRAH's involvement in the cataclysm.

NAMOR, assisted by the United Nations, tracks down BYRRAH's co-conspirators, DR. DORCAS and the WARLORD KRANG. He returns with them to Atlantis and together they are able to implicate BYRRAH in the cataclysm. PRINCE NAMOR is restored to power and asks LADY DORMA to marry him.

She gladly accepts!

This is a great SUB-MARINER #33, with nicely glossy covers, a strong binding and no toning of its 53-year old pages! We conservatively grade this copy an 8.0 VF. The Overstreet Guide feels $17 is appropriate -- but we feel $11 plus our LOW shipping cost is even MORE appropriate!
