DEADMAN (who in life was Boston Brand) first appeared in STRANGE ADVENTURES #205 (October 1967), and was created by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino. Two issues later, the art chores were taken over by the artist best-known for his association with DEADMAN -- the masterly NEAL ADAMS! He illustrated the remaining 11 issues of DEADMAN's first story arc.

Here in Adams' 9th installment of his DEADMAN saga, "The Call From Beyond!", both written and illustrated by Adams himself, DEADMAN learns that his pal Tiny has not been killed, but only seriously wounded. He proceeds to inhabit his body and merges with the deepest part of his being in order to enable him to fight back from the very edge of death. VASHNU sits by Tiny's bedside and prays for his recovery. Tiny's surgeon, Dr. Shasti, is also from India and recognizes VASHNU as a famous mystic. Dr. Shasti is also involved in psychic research and is attempting to get grant money for a group of "researchers" who, unknown to Dr. Shasti, are fakes. DEADMAN investigates and helps Dr. Shasti and his son expose the phony medium Madam Pegeen and her gang. With his job done, DEADMAN wonders how to take up the trail of the Hook again.

You also get the creepy story, "Half Man . . Half Alien!" in which scientist Kirk Haggard switches some body parts with an alien invader when his experimental teleporter malfunctions.

This is a terrifically-preserved 54-year old Silver Age STRANGE ADVENTURES -- no creases, tears, pieces missing, or abnormal toning. The binding is strong, the colors are bright, and the cover is glossy! We are very confidently grading this an 8.5 VF+ . . . which Overstreet values at $86 . . . but we're pricing it at $68. . with our customary L•O•W shipping!
