In these first two issues, the _Enterprise_-D revisits the planet Modala, one hundred years after a visit from a previous _Enterprise_ sparked the battle for Modalan independence. After Picard, Troi, Spock and McCoy beam down, the _Enterprise_ diverts to a distress call. Meanwhile, the Ferengi arrive to disrupt the celebration on Modala, claiming they own the planet and the leaders must pay them.
