Stan Lee creates another angst-filled story and John Buscema turns in another gorgeous and emotional art job in SILVER SURFER #14.

In "The Surfer and the Spider!", The SILVER SURFER and SPIDER-MANn cross paths while both are soaring through the city. Based on what he's heard about the SURFER, SPIDEY treats him with hostility. The SURFER tries to avoid fighting him, but SPIDER-MAN doesn't let him leave. The army enters the battle and begins to fire on the SURFER. He calls his board, but is shocked to see a boy on it. The SURFER sacrifices himself to protect the boy from the army's firepower. Seeing this sacrifice, SPIDER-MAN and the army stop their attack, realizing they were wrong in seeing the SILVER SURFER as the enemy.

Buscema's powerful and fluid artwork is enhanced here by inker Dan Adkins!

This is a clean and solid copy of SILVER SURFER #14 with a good firm binding, although the cover has pulled away ever-so-slightly from the staples. The 53-year-old pages show very little toning. Colors are bright, and there is a modest sheen to the cover. No creases, tears, or pieces missing. We're calling it a 7.0 FN/VF, and Overstreet puts a value of $115 on it. How does the Benny's Comics Corner price tag of $88 sound?? Pretty good? And we'll even throw in possibly the lowest shipping charges on HipComic!
