Calling all WALT KELLY collectors! Here's a great copy of one of 1943's most popular wartime comics! Someone took very good care of this OUR GANG COMICS #6 - the late Summer issue of the title created by Walt Kelly in 1942 that ran until 1949 - longer than the original OUR GANG comedy shorts did!!

With a cover and 16 pages of shenanigans from the 'OUR GANG' cast (Froggy, Janet, Buckwheat, Happy, and Mickey) by the legendary WALT KELLY, this is a sought-after early KELLY collectible! In the 8-page lead story, a rival gang (Feeney, Ham and Iggy) fool OUR GANG into thinking that a magic water makes vegetables in no time at all.

Other stories starring MGM cartoon stars TOM and JERRY (drawn by 'LITTLE LULU's John Stanley), Benny the Burro, Flip and Dip, and cover boy BARNEY BEAR .

Kelly also contributes "Billy Dollar", (a 6-page a story about how a one-dollar bill comes alive and tells the boy who owns him how important it is to invest in war-tome savings bonds!), a 12-page BUMBAZINE and ALBERT story - the only one to appear in OUR GANG COMICS - that was the precursor for Kelly's POGO comics, and two pages (including the back cover) of illustrations worked around the Victory Garden and the 'V for VICTORY' themes of World War II. That's 28 pages by one of the greatest American cartoonists!

The binding holding the pages is strong, there is actually a shine/gloss to the covers, and no blemishes that affect the artwork in any way. Just the slightest bit of toning, a couple of ragged page edges, and a worn cover corner! BUT - the cover has recently become detached, and that drops its grade from an 8.0 VF down to a 6.0 FN in our conservative estimate for a comic of this vintage! Overstreet cites this grade at $90 but you can grab it from us for just $75 plus our always-LOW shipping fee.

It's a key issue in Walt Kelly's early comic book career . . and it should be a member of YOUR gang!
