_NOT BRAND ECHH_ was a satiric comic book series published by Marvel Comics that parodied its own superhero stories as well as those of other comics publishers. Running for 13 issues ( Aug. 1967 to May 1969), it included among its contributors such notable writers and artists as Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Gene Colan, Ross Andru, Bill Everett, John and Marie Severin, and Roy Thomas.

Its mascot, Forbush Man, introduced in this first issue, was a superhero wannabe with no superpowers and a costume of red long johns emblazoned with the letter "F" and a cooking pot, with eye-holes, covering his never-revealed head.

Spoofed in this first issue were 'The FANTASTICAL FOUR' up against 'The SILVER BURPER' and battling 'DOCTOR BLOOM' in the lead story. You also get "The Fastest Gums In The West" starring 'KID COLD' and 'RAWHEAD KID' as they square off against "The TOO GONE KID" , "The HUMAN SCORCH VS The SUNK-MARINER" - starring guess who - . . and "A Day of Blunder" starring 'SGT. KNOCK FURIOUS' and his 'HOSTILE COMMANDOS'.

This is a great-looking 54 year old comic except for one fault = it has a barely noticeable 'puncture wound' running through the entire book, from cover to cover! It's in all of the scans provided, and yet, you may not even notice it! Unfortunately that brings down what would have been a 7.5 VF-, to a 5.5 FN- . Overstreet says $16 for a 5.5 copy . . . but we're pricing it at $13.50 . . with our always-L•O•W shipping!
