Herb Trimpe not only pencilled NICK FURY, AGENT OF SHIELD #15, but assisted in plotting it, too. Aided in scripting by Gary Friedrich and with inking by Sam Grainger, they presented "The Assassination of Nick Fury" in the Fall of 1969!

HYDRA hires the services of BULLSEYE, a paid assassin, to kill NICK FURY. FURY and Laura attend a concert by Country Joe and The Fish in Central Park when BULLSEYE strikes - apparently assassinating NICK FURY in full view of horrified onlookers. Abruptly, HYDRA leader Number 72 decides this would be the moment SHIELD would expect HYDRA to strike and changes his plans for an attack. Instead, SHIELD converges on Central Park and corner BULLSEYE, who decides to shoot it out with them but Dugan kills him. (He probably had it coming, wearing a colorful costume like that with a BULLSEYE painted on his chest!!)

This turned out to be the last Issue of the series, with NICK FURY believed to really be dead by fans . . . but he turns up alive two months later in THE AVENGERS #72 !

This copy is super-sharp-looking and pristine in every way -- a genuine 9.0 VF/NM. Overstreet says $95 for a 9.0 copy . . . but we're pricing it at $86 . . with our always-L•O•W shipping!
