"Champion!" Guest-starring Thor, Hulk, Sub-Mariner, Colossus, Sasquatch, Doc Samson, and Wonder Man. Fantastic Four, Avengers, and X-Men cameos. Story by Tom DeFalco. Art by Ron Wilson, Camp Esposito, Giacoia, Dan Green, and Chic Stone. In arguably the best Thing story of all, a cosmic immortal known as the Champion, a being of nigh immeasurable strength whose existence is defined by physical contest, arrives on Earth and wishes to test his mettle against the mightiest heroes this planet has to offer. If they do not fight, this powerful being will destroy the Earth. After readily dispatching all contenders, the last man standing is Aunt Petunia's favorite nephew. But, can even the strongest member of the Fantastic Four hope to defeat an Elder of the Universe? 48 pages. Note: This issue was parodied on the cartoon "Dextor's Laboratory," in Dial M for Monkey. The Thing's role was filled by Dextor's Super Monkey and the Champion-like character was voiced by professional wrestler "Macho Man" Randy Savage.
