Item Description

The MARVEL TEAM-UP series debuted in March of 1972 and featured two or more Marvel characters in one story. Through February 1985, and 150 issues, it featured SPIDER-MAN as the lead "team up" character in all but ten issues, and in six of its seven Annuals. Here is issue #4, from the Fall of 1972, with a script by Gerry Conway, and great artwork by Gil Kane!

In "And Then . . The X-MEN!", the story begins with PETER PARKER waking from his fever dreams and nightmares about the Vampire called MORBIUS, and goes to seek help from the scientist who made the 'medicine' with which PETER was injected, by none other than MORBIUS (seen here in just his 4th MARVEL appearance)!

Meanwhile PROFESSOR X learns that the scientist - a good friend of his - has been kidnapped, and - suspecting SPIDER-MAN is the culprit - sends CYCLOPS, MARVEL GIRL, ANGEL and ICEMAN to apprehend SPIDER-MAN.

But after a brief battle, the X-MEN learn that MORBIUS is the true culprit, and they eventually subdue him and rescue the scientist, who is able to cure PETER of his fever dreams!

••Trivia -- On page 6, GIL KANE draws himself in a jokey front-page article in the Daily Bugle!

This is a great-looking 52-year old copy of MARVEL TEAM-UP #4 with a strong binding, supple pages and good color - and no toning. This can easily be graded at 8.0 VF . . for which Overstreet suggests a price of $52. But we say just $42 . . and combined with our L•O•W shipping, it's a heck of a deal!!
