DR.STRANGE was created by STEVE DITKO in 1963 , first appearing in _Strange Tales_ #110 that summer.. He was created by Ditko to bring a different kind of character and themes of psychedelic mysticism to Marvel Comics, which went over big with college students and hippies! :o)

Here are the first two issues of DR. STRANGE's 14-issue run in MARVEL PREMIERE, with plots and pencils by Barry Windsor-Smith, just before he ended his acclaimed run illustrating CONAN THE BARBARIAN and just before he took a 10-year sabbatical from comic book work! He co-plotted the stories in these two issues with Stan Lee.

MARVEL PREMIERE #3 features the story "While the World Spins Mad!" in which DR. STRANGE senses a great evil, but needs the help of The Ancient One to root it out. Then he finds himself confronted by someone (or something) who takes his own form, and tells him he's "already defeated". Only when he discovers his oldest enemy is at the bottom of it does he also realize he was hit by a truck-- and has been in a hospital bed ever since! On recovering, he erases the memory of the night's events from the doctor's mind, as "Many things there are that mankind must not know..."

in #4, you get "The Spawn of Sligguth!" where Barry Windsor-Smith colludes with his CONAN writer, Roy Thomas, to concoct the tale of Ethan Stoddard asking STRANGE for help for his fiancee, who has fallen prey to the cult of Sligguth in Starksboro. The Ancient One warns STRANGE of a Cosmic Obscenity that is only slumbering . . . and STRANGE is overcome by Sligguth's worshippers. (Though Thomas and Smith had adapted many of Robert E. Howard's stories and concepts of the Hyborean Age in CONAN, the Sligguth here was the first introduction of a Howard concept into the current Marvel Universe!)

These two copies of MARVEL PREMIERE are in terrific shape, with glossy covers, strong bindings, only lightly toned pages, and no tears, splits, or pieces missing.
