MARVEL COMICS SUPER SPECIAL was a 41-issue series of one-shot comic-magazines published by Marvel Comics from 1977 to 1986. They were cover-priced $1.50 to $2.50, at the time regular color comics were priced 30 cents to 60 cents. Issue 20 presents an illustrated adaptation of the ground-breaking film 'DRAGONSLAYER', produced in part by Walt Disney Productions, and featuring the amazing stop-motion animation wizardry of Phil Tippett.

Marie Severin illustrated the storyline of the film, in which a young wizarding apprentice is sent to kill a dragon which has been devouring girls from a nearby kingdom. This is because a King has made a pact with a dragon to whom he sacrfices virgins,for which the dragon leaves his kingdom alone. The young apprentice (Peter MacNicol) volunteers to kill the dragon and attempt to save the next virgin in line -- the King's own daughter!

In addition to Severin's 48-page adaptation, there are a half-dozen essays and articles about the making of the film and its stars, all illustrated with stills from the movie.
