In the countdown to THOR getting his own title, JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #119 was published only 6 issues and 6 months before the big event!

In "The Day of the Destroyer!", Loki, being fearful of the power he has unleashed in the form of the Destroyer, saves Thor from certain death. As Thor continues to battle for his life, Loki sends a message to Karnilla, the Norn Queen, urging her to wake Odin from the Odinsleep. Odin wakes and realizes that Thor is in danger. Odin tries to assist Thor, but Thor insists that he can wage his own battle. Thor prevails but damages his hammer, the Temple of Darkness is destroyed and Odin is consumed with pride at his son's gallantry. Odin summons Loki and berates him, then sentences him to being bound in servitude to Ularic, Odin's Royal Warlock. (In the next issue • also available from us • Thor travels to Pittsburgh to get his hammer repaired!!)

This issue also introduces Hogun, Fandral and Volstagg - The Warriors Three - in the TALES OF ASGARD back-up feature! This famous trio makes their debut in "Gather, Warriors!", hoping to help Thor prevent the onset of Ragnarok!

This is a good-looking copy of JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #119, with minimal toning and supple pages. No tears, stress lines or pieces missing, but some stress lines on the cover edges and a bit of separation near the spine. We're conservatively grading it at a 5.5 FN-.
