Inside the text-laden front cover by Jack Kirby, one of THOR's best-known recurring foes is introduced: Crusher Creel, aka The Absorbing Man! In the 16-page lead story, "The Stronger I Am, The Sooner I Die!", a vengeful Loki uses his magic to turn brutal prisoner Crusher Creel into the Absorbing Man. Thor and Creel meet and fight, with Creel quickly adapting to his new-found abilities. Balder then interrupts the fight by transporting Thor to Asgard. It seems that Loki has abducted Jane and brought her to the Golden Realm. Thor and Balder ride off to save her. Back on Earth, Creel believes he has defeated the Thunder God.

Kirby also illustrates another TALES OF ASGARD installment, "The Golden Apples", which turns out to be sort of an Asgardian version of 'Little Red Riding Hood'!

This copy has been handled and read repeatedly, the cover is detached, cover- and page-edges are a bit ragged, and there is typical toning for a 55-year old comic. There are abrasions along the spine, and a corner triangle piece missing from the back cover. About what you'd expect of a comic that has been read and enjoyed since the 1960s! All these factors contribute to a grading of 3.0 GD/VG , for which Overstreet suggests a price of $42.00.
