Here's the scion of Asgard, the MIGHTY THOR, appearing just three years after his debut in this science fiction/fantasy anthology comic, JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY, and just one year before the God of Thunder gets his own self-titled comic, with THOR #126.

In "When Magneto Strikes!", written by Stan Lee and with dynamic action art from the great Jack Kirby, MAGNETO is testing his powers in the city when he "attracts" THOR's attention. They battle aboard MAGNETO'S submarine, at the same time the BROTHERHOOD OF EVIL MUTANTS members are out looking for the X-MEN. MAGNETO flees from his battle with THOR in his escape vessel and the X-MEN's submarine is seen pursuing him. THOR turns back into Don Blake and visits Jane Foster. She makes him a snack and gives him a glass of milk.

Jack Kirby also illustrates the TALES OF ASGARD back-up feature, "Banished From Asgard!", in which Arkin the Weak betrays Asgard in an attempt to win the hand of Queen Knorda.

This 60-year old copy of JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #109 is in pretty nice condition - no tears, bent corners, pieces missing or excessive toning. The binding is strong, the pages are supple, and the colors are bright. We'll call this a 6.0 FN which Overstreet values at $144 -- we, however, are going to make this issue a bargain for THORists at just $110.
