Inside the cover by Jack Kirby, in the 18-page lead story, "The Thunder God Strikes Back!", (continued from issue #105, which is also available in our store) Thor evades the Cobra and Mr. Hyde and transforms back into Dr. Blake, then pretends to betray Thor in order to get his cane back. He becomes Thor and defeats the Cobra easily, though Hyde escapes by becoming Calvin Zabo and slipping away. Hyde attacks Thor later, but is defeated. When Blake returns to the office he discovers that Jane hates him because of his seeming betrayal of Thor.

Jack Kirby also illustrates the TALES OF ASGARD back-up feature, "Balder the Brave!", the first part of an origin story of Balder, wherein Odin orders Balder executed for leaving a battle to rescue a fallen bird, but Balder is so beloved that the animals and plants keep any harm from coming to him, and Odin makes him invincible.

You also get a one-page text story, a true tale of desperation and evil on the high seas in World War I.

This copy of JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #106 has admittedly seen better days. There is typical toning, a date stamp on the cover, and a bit of handwriting at the top of the title page. The spine is stressed, there is an overall limpness, and a slight spine roll. About what you'd expect of a comic that has been read and enjoyed since the 1960s!
