HOUSE OF SECRETS was the name of several mystery, fantasy, and horror comics anthologies published by DC Comics starting in 1956. The title ran for 80 issues, until October of 1966. And in addition to short, "one-off" stories, most issues featured the adventures of modern-day sorcerer Mark Merlin who first appeared in issue #23 (August 1959), and later, the dual-personality super villain ECLIPSO, who was introduced in issue #61 (August 1963) and continued to the series' end.

The much-admired artist ALEX TOTH did his first comic book work for DC in 1947 - the same year he graduated from High School! In 1966 he created 'SPACE GHOST' for Hanna-Barbera . . . but in between those two dates he did many adventurous and beautifully-drawn comics for DC -- and issue #67 of HOUSE OF SECRETS has a great chunk of his talent on display!

Toth's distinctive art tells the 12-page story of "Challenge of the Split Man!". Toth had been illustrating the tales of ECLIPSO, "Half Hero, Half Villain" for nearly a year, and this story tells how Eclipso strands Bruce Gordon, Mona Bennet and her father the professor on a deserted island and takes control of Gordon's robot ROGER. Gordon and the Bennets are rescued and arrive just in time to stop Eclipso.

"Doctor 7's Natural Ally!" is the lead story and finds House of Secret's main character, sleuth of the supernatural Mark Merlin, who finds the villain Doctor-7 has stolen various ingredients he needs to perform a spell that will summon the Morloo, a giant supernatural monster of great power!

Then in HOUSE OF SECRETS #68, the story of Doctor 7 and the Morloo continues, in "The Return of the Morloo", as Doctor-7 escapes from jail and immediately conjures up the deadly Morloo again. But Mark Merlin calls on a Morloo of his own from the same dimension to even the odds.

And in the ECLIPSO story, "Eclipso's Deadly Doubles", Bruce Gordon and Professer Bennet try to trap Eclipso in another dimension to rid the world of his evil.

These 57-year old comics are in good shape, with a solid bindings and bright-colored pages showing normal toning. No apparent blemishes other than rough page edges lead us to grade them an aggregate 4.0 VG . . and we think you'll agree! And don't listen to Overstreet's assessment of $24 -- we say $5 and that's final!
