Weight : 128 lbs.; 1040 lbs as the Hulk. Height: 5'9" as Banner & 7' as Hulk, First Appearance: Incredible Hulk #1 (1962) as Hulk. Powers: Superhuman strength, endurance, speed and healing factor. Bruce Banner had a tragic childhood. When he was a boy, his alcoholic father finally murdered his mother after years of beatings. Suppressing his pain and rage, the highly withdrawn, intellectual Bruce threw himself into science, where he felt safe from the chaos that ruled his life. A genius in nuclear physics, Bruce went to work after college at the US Defense Dept nuclear-reseach facility at Desert Base, New Mexico, under General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. There, Bruce designed and oversaw construction of the first gamma bomb, a nuclear weapon with a high gamma radiation output. As the countdown commenced for the first detonation of the gamma bomb, teenager Rick Jones entered the testing site on a dare. Bruce saw him and knew he would be killed in the blast. Aware of his own safety, he rushed onto the grounds and shoved Rick into a protective trench. Before Bruce could follow, the bomb deto-nated, bathing every cell of his body in high-intensity gamma radiation. Miraculously, Bruce survived the blast, but his world would never be the same. Therafter, the radiation would cause him to transform during times of extreme stress into the dark personification of his long repressed raged fury. A savage Brute: the Hulk lashes out at his tormentors with an anger unmatched by any creature on Earth and the strength of a thousand armies. The angrier he becomes, the stronger he gets. The most powerful creature ever to walk the planet, the Hulk has ravaged cities and towns from coast to coast, smashing any object that stands in his way. When his temper tantrums subside, the Hulk is a gentle, childlike man-monster who wants only to be left alone. "..
