Item Description
We're offering two GREEN LANTERN issues from 1964 that contain tales of super-villains, prehistoric threats, Green Lantern Corps drama and outer space danger in their combined 72 pages!John Broome and Gardner Fox - two of DC's foremost storytellers of the Silver Age - team up to provide the storylines for über-talented GIL KANE to so expertly depict, aided by the gorgeously precise inking of Sid Greene!
In issue #29, we get the very first appearance - and origin - of GREEN LANTERN nemesis BLACK HAND in "Half a Green Lantern Is Better Than None!". Black Hand has created a device to store Green Lantern's ring energy and tries to use that energy to imprison Green Lantern in another dimension. (Gil Kane breaks the fourth wall in this story with his appearance, addressing the readers about the story!)
You also get Gardner Fox's "This World Is Mine!" in which a sentient Protonic Force which GREEN LANTERN had fought in issue #24 comes to Earth to conquer the planet.
In GREEN LANTERN #30, the cover story, "The Tunnel Through Time!" gets the Broome/Kane/Greene treatment and tells of a race of alien pterodactyls that inhabited Earth in prehistoric times who try to take over the world. In the back-up story, "Once a Green Lantern -- Always a Green Lantern!", Hal Jordan is sent on a mission to convince the beautiful Katma Tui to remain a Green Lantern, though she has announced her resignation upon the end of her probation period. Hal convinces her using a ruse to show her that her loyalty to the Corps is stronger than her love of her betrothed, Imi Kann.
These are two pretty good looking Silver Age GREEN LANTERN copies -- they both have a strong binding and some cover gloss. Issue #29 has a very faint cover date stamp and a bit of tape on the spine. Both are better than average 'reading copies'. We'll conservatively grade these a 4.0 VG. . . which Overstreet values at a combined $54.00 . . . but we'll beam them both to you for $30. . coupled with our always-L•O•W shipping!
