Item Description
Here's a double-dose of the renegade Green Lantern, and Hal Jordan's primary nemesis, SINESTRO, in two early stories form the Silver-Age GREEN LANTERN.Issue #15 brings SINESTRO back just one issue after his introduction in "Peril of the Yellow World" by John Broome and Gil Kane! In an attempt to win the title of Most Evil Citizen of Qward, SINESTRO traps GREEN LANTERN on a world where everything is yellow - and that can prove mighty troubling for Hal and his Power Ring ("necessary impurity" and all that!). Broome and Kane are still on hand for the back-up story: "Zero Hour in Rocket City", wherein Hal Jordan learns about the "Rocket Robbers" who are planning their robberies around the launch of rockets from Rocket City. He tries to stop the crooks, even though his power ring is almost out of its charge.
On the tails of issue #15 (above), the story in issue #18 references the ending, where GL imprisons SINESTRO -- the story "The World of Perilous Traps!" tells how, in their last encounter, SINESTRO had implanted a telepathic command into Hal Jordan's mind, which causes him to release SINESTRO from his imprisonment. SINESTRO then transports Hal to Qward for a battle, where Hal tricks him into thinking he no longer has his GREEN LANTERN Ring and then imprisons SINESTRO again! The back-up story once again unites Broome and Kane in "Green Lantern vs. Power Ring!". During a series of distance control tests, Bill Baggett finds Hal Jordan's ring and uses it for destruction before Hal overcomes him through willpower and regains the ring.
These are two great-looking 58-year old Silver Age GREEN LANTERNs -- no creases, tears, pieces missing, or abnormal toning. The binding is strong, and the colors are bright . . . the only flaw being a cut lower corner on the back cover of #18. We grade these a composite 5.0 VG/FN . . . which Overstreet values at $84 . Whether you're a SINESTRO fan (is there such a thing?) or not, we think $44 is a terrific bargain for this duo . . and our always-L•O•W shipping makes it even more irresistible!
In Brightest Day . . get the best of Kane, Broome, Green Lantern and Sinestro all in one terrific duo, or you'll find yourself . . In Blackest Night!
