This virus—nicknamed the “Wildcard Virus,” due to its unpredictable effects—killed ninety percent of the people it came into contact with. Of those remaining, nine out of ten became “jokers”—hideously mutated beings. Only one in a hundred “drew an ace” and wound up with a useful mutation. These aces became the new super-heroes, although they are despised by those less fortunate.
