CHARLTON COMICS took over the reins of FLASH GORDON after KING COMICS closed its doors in 1967, but started in with a continuation of the numbering KING had started. So this issue #13 was actually the second issue under the CHARLTON banner.

Featured in this issue from the Spring of 1969 are two great stories of the gallant and heroic Earthman who finds himself in exotic locales in outer space! In "Flash Gordon and the Monster Men of Tropica" FLASH must race to save Dale, a peaceful tribe of natives and himself, from a rampaging flood whose waters turn body parts to stone! Art by Jeff Jones in his distinctive style that seems an homage to Frank Frazetta.

In the cover-featured story, "Trapped in the Cave of the Mud Men!", Pat Boyette does an amazing job illustrating the tale that begins with Dr. Zarkov being poisoned while fighting an invasion of plant creatures on the planet Alania. He, FLASH, and Dale must go to Templor Cave on Mongo to gather mud that is an antidote, but when they get there they must fight . . . the Mud People!

This is a pretty great-looking 52-year old uncommon Silver Age copy -- no creases, tears, pieces missing, or abnormal toning. The binding is strong, and the colors are bright.
