Item Description
Here's a Silver Age FLASH, from the typewriter and drawing board of his most popular creators of this era - John Broome and Carmine Infantino - as the Scarlet Speedster deals with one of the biggest villains of his 1960s Rogues Gallery = CAPTAIN BOOMERANG!In "The Space-Boomerang Trap", THE ELONGATED MAN travels to Central City to help his friend FLASH puzzle out the clues to high-value thefts in the city that involve a boomerang . . but the number one suspect has perfect alibis for his lack of involvement. But it really is CAPTAIN BOOMERANG committing the thefts, by launching his robotic boomerangs into the future, although they are unknowingly passing through a separate universe and angering the strange alien residents . . . who then invade Earth to stop the 'boomerang invasion'! CAPTAIN BOOMERANG eventually joins FLASH and ELONGATED MAN in battling the invading creatures . . . but also winds up incriminating himself for the original robberies, and is sent back to prison!
The back-up story in this issue - "Vengeance Via Television" - tells of a criminal who is able to build a helmet device that allows him to beam his thoughts via television signals and manipulate people to do his bidding. FLASH pulls a fast one on him . . . and it's SHOW OVER for the villain.
Two fun stories using Broome's great command of far-out science fiction premises, and making them seem real in the DC Universe!
This is a lovely copy of FLASH #124 from the early 1960s, with a strong binding, supple pages and good color on its 63-year old pages! There are no tears, creases or pieces missing, or abnormal toning . . and that leads us to grading this an 8.0 VF.
The Overstreet Price Guide feels $209 is appropriate for this issue at this grade (it is the last FLASH 10¢ issue) -- but we feel $105 plus our FREE shipping is even MORE appropriate!
