One of Marvel's stranger licensing deals was this one-time outing with TV's alluring horror movie hostess, ELVIRA - Mistress of the Dark. It was published under the banner of 'MARVEL Spring Special Vol. 1 No.1' . . even though it hit newsstands in October, and there was never a No.2!

Inside the painted cover by Joe Jusko are 52 pages of the black and white antics of ELVIRA by Ernie Colón and Romeo Tanghal, adapted from the campy and spoofy ELVIRA feature film that was released in 1988. With glimpses of both her on-screen appearances as well as her home life, the tale is told of Elvira's visit to a small, uptight town to claim an inheritance, where she scandalizes the citizens!.

The artwork is really attractive in black and white, and there are a couple of fetching photos included of the real-life ELVIRA (Cassandra Peterson).
